Implications of Nano/Microplastic Pollution on AquatiC Environment HealTh

October 2025

Our team members Ioana Cârdan, Anamaria Couti and Ion Nesterovschi took part in the Microplastic Days Conference in Ljubljana, held from February 3 to 5.

This event brought together an inspiring community of researchers working on micro- and nanoplastics, addressing topics from their preparation and characterization to analytics, monitoring, and their impacts on the environment and health.

We were proud to contribute with three posters presenting our latest research findings obtained as part of the IMPACT project:

✅ “SERS detection of environmental nanoplastics by using customized plasmonic nanostructured substrates” – Ioana Cârdan, Ion Nesterovschi, Anamaria Couți, Serena Ducoli, Stefania Federici, Simona Cîntă Pînazru, Cosmin Farcău.

✅ “The production of environmental micro- and nanoplastics from marine-aged plastics” – Anamaria Couți, Ion Nesterovschi, Ioana Cârdan, Iuliana-Cornelia Sandu-Poplăcean, Karlo Maškarić, Lucian Barbu-Tudoran, Csilla Molnar, Geza Lazar, Tudor-Liviu Tamas, Luka, Glamuzina, Branko Glamuzina, Vera Slaveykova, Simona Cîntă Pînzaru

✅ “Identification of micro- and nanoplastics in Adriatic aquaculture waters using Raman and SERS spectroscopy” – Ion Nesterovschi, Ioana Cârdan, Csilla Molnar, Lucian Barbu, Maria Suciu, Tudor Tămaș, Karlo Maskaric, Luka Glamuzina, Branko Glamuzina, Vera Slaveykova, Simona Cîntă Pînzaru
